A quiet agenda. One public hearing: a sign program for a multi-tenant commercial building at 121 East Whittier Boulevard. Nothing else is up for a vote except the July 27 minutes, and no dollar figures appear anywhere on the agenda.
🚩 A sign program on Whittier Boulevard
- Conditional Use Permit 26-0006 would “implement a sign program for a multi-tenant commercial building located at 121 East Whittier Boulevard” (Assessor’s Parcel Number 017-293-34). Public Hearing 1
- What the program covers. Per the agenda, the project “involves the approval of sign criteria and design standards for on-premise signage, consisting of wall signs, canopy signs, and one freestanding sign, at a previously approved commercial building. No modifications are being proposed to the existing building and/or site, and all signage proposed will be located on the project site.” Public Hearing 1
- The building is still going up. Staff’s CEQA discussion notes the sign program “is for a new commercial building that is still under construction.” Public Hearing 1
- Environmental review. Staff finds the project categorically exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15311, Class 11 (“Accessory Structures”) and additionally exempt under Section 15061(b)(3), the common sense exemption, and states that none of the Section 15300.2 exceptions apply. Public Hearing 1
- The recommended action is that the commission approve and adopt a resolution making the required findings, approving the permit as per approved plans and subject to conditions, and making the CEQA determination. Public Hearing 1
🪑 Also on the agenda
- Minutes pulled for separate discussion. The approval of the July 27, 2026 Planning Commission minutes is listed under “Consent Calendar Items Removed for Separate Discussion,” so it will be taken up on its own rather than with the consent calendar. Item 1
- No consideration items, staff comments or commissioner comments are listed with any action. The agenda carries the standard SB 1439 notice on campaign contributions over $500 from donors with matters before the commission.
- The agenda notes that if business is not concluded by 10:00 p.m., the Chair shall either extend the meeting or continue unfinished items to a future date. Public comment is three minutes per person in general comment, five minutes per person on the public hearing item.
- Commission roster as printed on the agenda: Chair Roy Ramsland, Jr., Vice Chair Danitza Cardenas, and Commissioners Jason Manley, Maria Mahecha and Ginger Logan-Cannon.
