Terms of Service

Plain-English terms for using Council Brief's free briefs and paid subscriptions.

What Council Brief is

Council Brief summarizes and reports on public local-government records — agendas, staff reports, minutes, and meetings — for Orange County, California. Content is produced by automated systems (AI) with human oversight, and every substantive claim links to its official source. It is news and information, not legal, investment, or professional advice. Government agendas change, items get pulled or amended, and bodies act unpredictably — always verify against the linked official record before acting on anything we publish.

Accuracy & corrections

We work hard to be accurate and correct errors prominently when found (report them to hello@councilbrief.com). But we provide the service "as is," without warranties of completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Paid subscriptions

Acceptable use

Subscriptions are for your business or personal use. Don't resell, redistribute, or bulk-republish our alerts or data feeds without a license (data licensing is available — ask). Automated scraping of the site is fine for personal/research use at reasonable rates; commercial redistribution requires a license.

The boring parts

These terms are governed by California law. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stand. We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the newsletter, and continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Contact: hello@councilbrief.com — Council Brief, Anaheim, California.
