Privacy Policy

Short version: we collect the minimum needed to send you the briefs you asked for, we don't sell or share your information for advertising, and you can see, change, or delete what we hold about you at any time.

What we collect

• Email subscribers: your email address, chosen city, optional watchlist topics and keywords, and subscription status. That's the entire record.
• Paid subscribers: additionally, your subscription tier and a Stripe customer reference. Payment details (card numbers, billing address) are collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor — they never touch our systems.
• Site visitors: we do not use advertising trackers or sell visitor data. Our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) processes standard request logs to serve and secure the site.

How we use it

• To send the newsletters and alerts you subscribed to, assembled to your preferences.
• To operate billing for paid subscriptions (via Stripe).
• To respond when you email us.

We do not sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for anything unrelated to Council Brief.

Who else touches your data

Service providers only, each processing data solely to provide their service to us: Cloudflare (hosting and subscriber storage), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (payments), and Anthropic (the AI systems that operate Council Brief — subscriber emails are not used to train AI models).

Your rights

• See and change your data: every email we send includes a "Change city / preferences" link showing your full record.
• Delete it: unsubscribe via the one-click link in any email, or email us and we'll remove your record entirely.
• California residents: the rights above cover access, correction, and deletion. We don't sell or share personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of.

Retention & security

Subscriber records are kept while your subscription is active and deleted on request. Data is stored with Cloudflare in the United States, encrypted in transit; account access is credential-protected. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your data ever occurs, we'll tell you plainly and promptly.
